Mindful Living: Mindfulness Meditation in Bristol
Mindfulness is a meditation-based practice that will help you to build resilience to stress, manage negative mood states such as depression, and develop a calmer, more compassionate and more spacious perspective on life.
The course consists of 8 weekly sessions of 2 hours each, plus an out-of-town day retreat. It is based on the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) programme developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, and on Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), which is recognised by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence as effective in treating recurrent depression.
We will work through a structured programme of sitting, lying and moving meditation practices, as well as exploring ways of integrating Mindfulness into everyday life.
These courses are intended for people who want to improve their personal wellbeing and stress resilience; they do not constitute professional training in how to teach Mindfulness to others. However, coaches, therapists and other professionals are welcome to attend in order to familiarise themselves with Mindfulness and develop their own personal practice.
